"Rediscovering Catholicism"

I just am not sure what to write. There are so many things swimming around in my head I don't know where to start! So Maybe I will start with what I am trying to make my first priority in life...GOD!
I have slowly grown into my own understanding of GOD. I grew up Catholic. I went to a Catholic Grade School. As a teenager I tried very hard to grow closer to GOD, but I have always felt like as much as I try I am just never close enough! My husband went through RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation as an Adult) and it was then that I really started to feel like I was getting a bit closer. The priest was very animated and said something that I have always remembered. He told us that there are certain things we may not understand (or agree) about being a catholic and that is okay. He told us that you but these things on a spiritual shelf and you take them down every once in a while and think about, pray about it and if you still do not understand you can put them back up there and keep revisiting it. I thought this was great! We have since moved from that parish and I have struggled again to keep close to GOD.
I am starting to understand that it is up to me and me alone to stay close to GOD. I am now reading a book titled, "Rediscovering Catholicism." It is a wonderful book that talks about living an authentic life. I can't wait to finish it and share more thoughts! I certainly pray that all of us can become closer to GOD, and have the strength to follow the path he has planned for us in life!
